Sydney Lander Obituary

LANDER, SYDNEY C. 89, of Cherry St. died Friday Aug. 17, 2007 in the Sunny View Nursing Home, Warwick. He was the husband of Lillian A. ( Alterio) Lander and would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in January 2008.

He was born in Ipswich, MA a son of the late Benjamin and Anna M. ( Laconius ) Lander and had been a resident of Warwick for the past forty seven years previously living in Cranston. For twenty nine years until his retirement in 1989, he had been a metal finisher for the R. E. Sturdy Co in Providence. 'Syd' as he was called, was an active member of the Johan Baner Lodge #36 Vasa Order of America, an active worker at Vasa Park in Foster, RI and was an Army Air Force Veteran during WWII.

He is survived by his wife, several nieces and nephews and was the brother of the late Benjamin Lander and Thelma Reeves. A Memorial service will be held in Vasa Hall, 43 Bald Hill Rd. Cranston, Sunday September 2, 2007 at 3 PM. Should friends desire, donations to Vasa Park ( ILF) c/o Linda Johnson 43 Holden St. Warwick will be appreciated.
