Hi Again,

It has been awhile since I came here.

It is a little better this time.

We will prevail just as you and Daddy taught us.

Daddy is strong and you are compassionate, I have those traits to guide me and so I guide my children so they can guide their children and when the time comes my grandchildren will guide their children in a manner befitting the Delgado Hammond philosophy.

Hi Again,

You know what I'm going to say so, I will look out for Sharon, Perry, Nadine, Terri and the family now, we will move together as a team in what we do, how we think of each other and listen to you and Daddy when we have thorny issues to resolve. We know each other so well it will be easier to take one step in front of the other.

You and Daddy have prepared us well, when we arrive.

Hi Mummie,

To me calling your name was all I needed to do. I was safe from all things that could hurt any of us.

You and Daddy made it possible for me to graduate from Howard and Yale, get married have children and find love in places unknown to me.

When things were going in the wrong direction, you would call and say you were thinking about how I was coming along. As a young husband and father you knew when to add a word or two.

Love,is more than breath it is a way of life that transcends nature.

Family,
Mrs. Delgado was always wonderful and engaging to me. She was witty and full of personality. In a short time many, many stories and experiences were shared. We pray your strength. Please know that she was the kind of mother-in-law all people should be blessed to have. I hope that I am to my in-laws what she was to me, and that I can still call my sons my "Baby" when they reach 64!

My friend Evelyn is gone…well, I am left with a lot of good memories, especially of our Pokeno nights. In rain, sleet or heat we played Pokeno once a week for over 55 years. Is that unreal?

I must share this one funny story with the family. I will always remember on a bad night, that Johnnie told her that she should stay home. She responded, “Alright Johnnie.” Then she waited…when she thought that he was asleep she, with shoes in hand, tip- toed to the door. Johnnie said, “Ev, you do not have to sneak out…just go.”

Evelyn and I were blessed with having a wonderful sister-in-law relationship. It would be an understatement to say that I will never forget her.

I hope that the family understands how much I would have wanted to be with them, to see Evelyn one more time. Health problems prevented me from doing so. I am truly sorry for this. Instead I said a pray for both her and the family… from home.

She has left behind a most wonderful family. A family that I, too, have enjoyed over the years. We will all have lost a most wonder person. We can only hope that she and Johnnie have met in heaven.

God be with you all……

Much love,

Aunt Jennie

Dear Sharon, Skeezie & Perry,

To share with you how much I adored your mother would take a lot of space! We spent many of years meeting on Tuesday's to play Pokeno. I affectingly called her my “Cousin.”

She has taken with her the many, many laughs…at my expense, for sure, of things that we experienced during those times.

For all of the family that she has left behind, you have had the pleasure of having a most beautiful mother, friend, and confidant. Hopefully, Evelyn has joined your dad, among many of her contemporaries… in a place we all will be one day.

We all have been in the position of putting off for tomorrow what we could have done today…this is what happened when I came home to Providence for a luncheon for my senior Pokeno “cousin’s” reunion. Had the activity been planned for a couple of weeks earlier, I would have had a chance to visit with your mom and enjoyed her wonderful smile and demeanor. If we could turn back the hands of time…….

She was truly a wonderful person and I want to convey my most sincere sympathy to the family.
