William Zinni Obituary

ZINNI, WILLIAM, 87, of Mulberry Circle, Johnston, died Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Esther M. (Crino) Zinni; they were married for fifty-four years.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Lucia (DiMartino) Zinni. Mr. Zinni was a lift truck operator for the former New England Malleable Iron Company of Warwick, for thirty years before retiring in 1981. He was a WW II veteran, serving in the US Army's 85th Infantry Division, as a technical sergeant. His regiment saw combat in the Italian Campaign, from the North Appenines and Po Valley to the Alps, and was cited for outstanding performance of duty in action.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children; William Zinni, Jr. of Hardwick, MA, David A. Zinni and his wife Sharon of Southbury, CT, Michael A. Zinni and his wife Heather of Johnston, Angela L. Dorcus and her husband Patrick of Keene, NH. He was the grandfather of nine. Mr. Zinni was the brother of the late Louis, Joseph, Fred and Virginia Zinni, Mary Alviano and Anna Picozzi.

Funeral from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston.
