Shirley and I became great friends over the past five years. I have been one of her student workers since my freshman year at RIC. The first time I saw Shirl, she "interviewed" me for the position at the Student Union and took me on a tour of the campus. It was at that moment that I knew this woman would have an impact on my life.
There are no words to explain how much she meant to me and how greatly she will be missed at RIC. Through the many hours of gossip on that infamous couch and the late night phone calls after a bad break up, Shirley became more then a boss and even more then a friend; she became my second mother.
Shirley...you were my angel on earth and you are now, in heaven. I love you.
