Leo Sullivan Obituary

SULLIVAN, LEO J., age 76 of Jackson, New Hampshire, and formerly of North Kingstown, Rhode Island, an attorney, died Saturday at home. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Smith) Sullivan. They were married for 50 years.

He was the father of James C. Sullivan and his wife Elizabeth of Narragansett, Rhode Island, Joanne Sulliva- Lewando and her husband William of Glen, New Hampshire, and Leo M. Sullivan of New York City.

Born in Providence the son of the late Leo C. Sullivan and Helen (Winn) Sullivan, he had resided in North Kingstown for 40 years before moving to New Hampshire. He had also lived in Warwick.

He was a graduate of LaSalle Academy, class of 1948, attended Providence College and received his J.D. degree from Boston University School of Law, class of 1953. He was admitted to the Rhode Island Bar in 1954 and has practiced law in North Kingstown since 1955. He and his son, James C. Sullivan, formed the firm of Sullivan and Sullivan, P.C.

He was a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association and the U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island. He was a member of the Washington County Bar Association. He was Town Solicitor of the Town of North Kingstown for several years. He was a former member of the House of Delegates of the Rhode Island Bar Association.

Leo was a communicant of Our Lady of the Mountain Church in North Conway, New Hampshire.

Besides his wife and children he is survived by his grandchildren, Christopher Lewando and Ashley Lewando of Glen, New Hampshire, Mary Kate Sullivan, Eileen Sullivan and Flynn Sullivan of Narragansett, Rhode Island.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. in St. Thomas Moore Church, 53 Rockland Street, Narragansett. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 4-7 P.M. in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, North Kingstown.
