Harry Bowen Obituary

BOWEN, HARRY A. JR., 88, a long time resident of E. Greenwich, died Tuesday, October 23rd. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Malissie M. (Rathbun) Bowen. Born in W. Warwick, he was a son of the late H. A. Bowen, Sr. and Gertrude Bowen.

Mr. Bowen was a WWII Marine Veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre. He retired from Hillside Farms after 22 years and had previously been in the feed and grain business.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and gardening and had a big vegetable garden every year. He was a member of the E. G. Methodist Church, Pawtuxet Valley Old Timers and V.F.W.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Judith Lingo Marshall; a son, Harry A. Bowen, III; three grandsons; and identical twin great-grandsons.

Funeral Service Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the Hill Funeral Home, 822 Main St., E. Greenwich. Burial with military honors will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, N. Kingstown. Calling hours Thursday 5-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of RI, Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center would be appreciated.

To Malissie and Harry's family ,
Just saw the announcement of Harry's passing on the internet at ProJo. I was taken aback. Harry was a great guy and I always looked forward to stopping by and saying hello when I was back in EG. He will be missed.
