Joseph Healy Obituary

HEALY, JOSEPH E., 82, of Riverside, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. He was the devoted husband of Barbara T. (Laferriere) Healy for fifty-two years.

He was born in Providence, Rhode Island, a son of the late Joseph A. and Mary (Sadler) Healy. Mr. Healy was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a candy salesman for many years, retiring at age 78 from Brierley and King Candy Brokers. He was a member of the Boston Candy Club and inductee to the Candy Hall of Fame in Hershey, PA.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son; William Healy of Chepachet, RI, a grandson; Matthew Healy of Maine, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers John and Thomas and his sisters Catherine McNamara and Bertha Livingstone.

His funeral will be held Monday at 9 AM from the PERRY/McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Martha's Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours Sunday 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Healy's name to Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860, would be deeply appreciated.
