Elizabeth Shulver Obituary

SHULVER, ELIZABETH ANNE, (HEALY), peacefully passed away on October 26th. The daughter of the late John and Margaret (Wallace) Healy, she is survived by her husband Paul children Ashley and Benjamin as well as her sisters, Susan Pepe, Joan Mitchell, and brother Wallace Healy.

A graduate of St. Mary's Bay View Academy she went on to Rhode Island College where she earned her Bachelors in Psychology. An impressive and intelligent woman she returned to school for her Masters Degree in Education which she earned from the University of Rhode Island.

Elizabeth took pride in helping others. She began substitute teaching in Scituate and then went on to work as an activity director for a local nursing home, an experience she always cherished. Teaching was her truest talent.

She spent several years employed by the Rhode Island Department of Corrections as a teacher and also served in the Corrections Training Academy as an instructor. The Bay View alum gained respect and many friends while working in prison; in fact she actually met her husband. Now married and with children, Liz began her own private tutoring practice. She also found time to volunteer as ice cream lady at the local elementary school.

Liz also became quite an active member of the Church of the Ascension. She began teaching Sunday school, where she was dubbed 'Ms. Liz', and later became the Sunday School Coordinator. A beautiful, intelligent woman, Lizzie had a zest for life and an unconditional love for others.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 am in The Church of the Ascension, 390 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-7 pm in The Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Avenue, Cranston. In lieu of flowers we respectfully ask for donations to the 'Ms. Liz Sunday School Fund' at the Church of the Ascension.
