Gordon Hurrell Obituary

HURRELL, GORDON G., 77, of River St., Rehoboth, passed away October 26th at home. He was widowed to Jane H. (Baker) Hurrell after 48 years of marriage.

Born in Rehoboth, he was the son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Carpenter) Hurrell. Gordon worked on the Bowen Farm in Rehoboth, for 16 years and was an employee of the Providence Journal for 32 years before retiring, in 1992, as Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the Rehoboth Community Men's Club for many years.

Gordon, 'Papa' is survived by a son, Glen D. Hurrell, his daughter-in-law Terri, and three grandchildren, all of Rehoboth. He also leaves a sister, Sally (Hurrell) Knox of Rehoboth, numerous nieces and nephews, and was brother of the late Arthur 'Ted' Hurrell.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Tuesday, October 30th at 11:00 AM in the Rehoboth Village Cemetery, Bay State Rd., Rehoboth. Calling hours are Monday, October 29th from 5-7 PM in the J.H. WILLIAMS & CO. FUNERAL HOME, 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Rehoboth Congregational Church, P.O. Box 325, Rehoboth, MA 02769.
