My wife and I have known May and Joe for quite a few years. Whoever would have thought you could meet and find such good friends at a restaurant. But that's eaxtly how we met. Thank God for "Buy one get one" at Bickfords on Tuesday nights. Both May and Joe and Iris and I always requested Dottie as our waitress and Dottie's flair for the unexpected actually brought us together. From that point on we began sitting together and building a very special friendship. By the time we met their children; Jeannie, Jen, Nancy and David, their spouses' Bret and Missy and their grandchildren; Michael, Matt, Brooke, Troy, Sophie, Rachael and Jake, we felt like we already knew them.. By the way May spoke about her children, grandchildren and the people they brought into the family, you always knew how proud she was and how much she loved each and everyone of them. May had a way of making you feel like you were part of the family and that her family was part of yours as well. In trying to gather our thoughts for today, we realized that very few opportunities arise in our lives when we truly meet extraordinary people. May was one of these extraordianry people. When May came into the room the entire room lit up. Her smile was one of a kind. You couldn't look at her smile and not smile back. It was contagious. May was also very strong. She endured fighting cancer for 11 years. Yet, if someone didn't tell you she had it you would never have known. She didn't complain, she lived each day to the fullest and enjoyed her family and friends as much as possible. If she were with us today, she'd be scolding us for being sad and regretting our loss. She'd be the first to tell us that she's better off now. Even though she misses each and every one of us, she's no longer in pain. She's with God in heaven and will patiently wait for her loved ones to join her someday.
May and Joe had a wonderful marriage lasting over 48 years. You could tell by being around them how much they loved each other. Joe was her rock and she was his. Their life together is full of wonderful memories and May would expect Joe to focus on the good times they shared to help lift his heavy heart and help minimize his sense of loss. Memories are a wonderful thing. We all have them and we need to reflect on them often. We need to close our eyes and see May's smile, the brightness in her eyes, get quiet and hear her laughter and hold ourselves and feel her in our arms and in our hearts. She will always be with us as we were always with her. God bless you and keep you our dear sweet May.
We will always hold you close to our heart. Love Always and forever
