Michael Grinnell Obituary

GRINNELL, MICHAEL C., 65, a long time resident of E. Greenwich passed away November 26, 2007. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Leslie E. (Kalsh) Grinnell. Born in Somerville, MA, he was the son of Julia M. (Murphy) Grinnell and the late Charles H. Grinnell.

Mr. Grinnell had a 37 year career in banking including SBA Loan Officer Citizens Bank, former manager Fleet Bank and Section Chief of FDIC. He was a former member of the EG Zoning Board, EG Rotary Club, past president EG Chamber of Commerce and past vice-president of Our Lady of Mercy Church Parish Council. He was a 1970 graduate of URI and a Viet Nam Air Force veteran.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter; Kimberly A. Haley and son, Christopher M. Grinnell and grandchildren; Gannon Michael, Skylar Marie, and Autumn Marie.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Church, Fourth Ave., E. Greenwich. Burial will be private. Visitation prior to the Mass 9-10:30 a.m. at the Hill Funeral, 822 Main St., E. Greenwich. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to RI Community Food Bank, 2000 Niantic Ave., Providence, RI 02907.

Time, distance and our busy schedules have separated us over the years. The last time I saw Mike he was in the hospital and he was so proud of his family. His health had failed, but his spirits were high. He praised his Liz, and brought me up to date with Kim, Chris and his grandchildren. >>> I offer my prayers and condolences to Mike's family and will keep his mom, Julia, in my prayers as well.

While I only met you a few times, you will be dearly missed by so many. I am so glad I had the chance to celebrate your daughter Kim's wedding with you and see you at one of your happiest moments. Those are the memories I will cherish and remember.
