Beatrice Keene Obituary

KEENE, BEATRICE L. (BUCKLEY), 94, died Friday, November 30 at the Tockwotton Home, Providence. She was the wife of the late A. Frederick Keene.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Harry and Gertrude (Goss) Buckley, she had lived in Lincoln since 1950.

Mrs. Keene was a registered nurse at the Pawtucket Day Nursery, Pawtucket for 15 years, retiring in 1975. She had previously worked at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island, Pawtucket and Miriam Hospital, Providence. She was a 1934 graduate of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and was the oldest member of the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.

She was a 1931 graduate of Pawtucket High School and attended Rhode Island College.

She was a member of the League of Women Voters, the Blackstone Valley Historical Society and Hamilton House, Providence.

Mrs. Keene was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Pawtucket and a member of the Episcopal Church Women of St. Paul's.

She is survived by one son, Mark B. Keene of Lincoln; two grandchildren, David Keene of Rehoboth, MA and Susan Capasso of Scituate; four great grandchildren, Allison and James Keene, both of Rehoboth, MA and Sara Beth and Sophie Capasso, both of Scituate; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Frederick W. Keene and the sister of the late Richard Buckley and Muriel Gill.

Her funeral service will be held WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5 at 11 A.M. at BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Rd., Lincoln. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call WEDNESDAY from 9:30 A.M. For Directions and Guest Book visit www.bellowsfh.com.

Very sorry to hear about your mother's death. She was a major part of my growing up and even when we were older I would see her out and about town. She always had a smile on her face, something nice to say and a wonderful personality and disposition. She will be missed by many of us.
