Walter Francis Obituary

FRANCIS, WALTER A., 57, of Hope Furnace Road, Coventry, died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at Kent County Hospital. He was the husband of Sandra J. (Graichen) Battey.

Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Joseph and Hilda (DeCosta) Francis. He had been a resident of Coventry for over 25 years. He was a concrete construction worker before his retirement. He was a member of Local #57 and loved boating. He served in the Army.

Besides his wife he is survived by his children Jessica A. Francis of Johnston, Erik J. Francis of Chepachet, stepchildren Joleen Battey of Chepachet, Larry Battey of Coventry and a brother Dennis Francis of Smithfield.

His funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:30am in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Visitation Monday 4-7pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-0050. Please omit flowers. I WAS SADDENED TO HEAR OF WALTERS PASSING. I TRIED TO SEE HIM ON THE POND THIS PAST SUMMER. I'M SORRY I LOST TOUCH WITH A FRIEND AND WILL MISS HIM ON THE POND.

Dear Sandy and family - we were so sorry to hear of Walter's passing. He was a good guy and we remember Walter fondly from our days on Johnson's Pond. Our thoughts are with you during this sad time. My moher, Eleanor Marco, sends her condolences as well. she consider Walter her second son and will miss him greatly.
