Anthony Marshall Obituary

MARSHALL, ANTHONY A. JR., 80, of North Country Club Drive, Warwick, died on Monday, December 3, 2007 at home. He was the beloved husband of Marion 'Betty' (Bessette) Marshall.

Born in Gloucester, MA, the son of the late Anthony A. Marshall and Theodora (Roland) Scuncio, he lived in Warwick for 54 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Marshall was an iron worker for 41 years, and a member of Iron Workers Local # 37 in East Providence. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Kim M. Gilbert of Lincoln ; two sons, Paul Marshall of Warwick and Peter Marshall of Maynard, MA; a sister, Margie Baffaro of Narragansett and Arlene Brotherton of Coventry; and four grandchildren, Kate and Sarah Gilbert, and Jared and Elizabeth Marshall. He was the brother of the late Richard J. Marshall.

His funeral will be held on Friday, December 7, at 9 a.m. from the Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860.

Dear Betty,
Cousin Tony was a wonderful man and will be sadly missed. Everytime I saw him, I always thought of my dad,his Uncle Gilbert. I only have fond memories of times spent when I was younger with all my cousins back on Sorrento Street! How I miss those days..please accept my heartfelt sympathy and know that Cousin is in Heaven now with Uncle Gil,Dora, my mom,Polly,Uncle Tony..he is at peace being your guardian angel.
