Robert Johnson Obituary

JOHNSON, ROBERT J., 87, passed away on Monday evening Dec. 3, 2007 at Kent County Hospital. Born in the Anthony section of Coventry he was the husband of Theresa (Cleveland) Johnson with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on Nov. 29, 2007.

He was the son of the late A. Kenneth and Mary (Spiers) Johnson. Mr. Johnson worked for Electric Boat in both Groton, CT and Quonset for 33 years retiring in 1985. He also worked for the former American Hoechst Corp. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and tending to his gardens. Besides his wife he is survived by a son A. Kenneth Johnson and his wife Wanita of Exeter, a daughter, Deborah McQuesten and her husband Kenneth of East Greenwich, and a granddaughter, Heather-Rose Mattias and her husband Brian of Coventry. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in the Gorton Funeral Home, 721 Washington St., Coventry. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8pm. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery, Coventry.
