I. Gardiner Obituary

GARDINER, I. LOUISE, (CURRY), 89, of Phillips Street, a retired teacher, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday. She was the devoted wife of Howard L. Gardiner.

Born in Englewood, NJ, a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Ida C. (Ellerbrook) Curry, she lived in Wickford for most of her life.

Mrs. Gardiner had taught at Davisville Elementary School, and St. Paul's Kindergarten.

She was a graduate of The University of Rhode Island Class of 1940 and received her masters degree in 1970. She was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority.

Mrs. Gardiner was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, having belonged to the choir, the Vestry and the S.S. Directors. She was a past president of the Episcopal Church Women of Rhode Island.

She was a member of the North Kingstown Senior Association, the North Kingstown Genealogical Society, North Kingstown Friends of the Library, Ye Kings Towne Garden Club and was the first president of the North Kingstown Recreational Association.

She was the loving mother of Peter C. Gardiner of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, Thomas H. Gardiner of Woodbridge, VA, Jeffrey R. Gardiner of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Christine F. Novak of Wakefield.; the cherished sister of Frederick T. Curry of Hampton, CT; the beloved grandmother of nine and great grandmother of six. She was the sister of the late T. Morton Curry Jr. and Thomas F. Curry.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Saturday at 1:00 pm in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 55 Main St., Wickford, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 5-7 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to a charity of ones choice would be appreciated. www.murphyfuneralhomes.org.
