Fred Trautman Obituary

KEWADIN — Fred W. Trautman, 91, of Kewadin, passed away Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Munson Medical Center.

Fred was born Aug. 20, 1917, in Kewadin, to Fredrick and Anna (Wendell) Trautman. On June 15, 1946, Fred married Lila Sutter in Alden.

Fred was born and raised on the farm in which he and his wife still reside. Growing up, he helped out with the dairy farm. He then worked at Super Tool as a tool grinder for 26 years until his retirement.

Fred enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading, and coin collecting.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lila; his daughter, Elaine (Benjamin Spencer) Trautman of St. Clair Shores; longtime friends and neighbors, Diane and Terry Zawora, and their son Brian (Casey), who is fondly known as Fred and Lila's "honorary grandson"; many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Elsie Powell.

Visitation will be held this evening, Aug. 27, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids.

A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Elk Rapids.
