Born June 12, 1928, in Ann Arbor, he was the son of the late David and Elsie (Schmidt) Ehnis. On Aug. 4, 1956, in Dearborn, he married Lou-Ellen Brockmiller.
Dick worked for a number of years as a sales representative for Frito Lay, retiring in 1984.
He was also a longtime member of the American Legion in Dexter.
He is survived by his wife, Lou-Ellen Ehnis of Traverse City; children, Steven (Juan He) Ehnis of Ann Arbor, Margaret Beth Hafner of Brighton, Roger Ehnis of Traverse City and Tim (Jodi) Ehnis of Remus; grandchildren, Yilan Liu, Jeffrey Hafner, Melissa Hafner, Zachary Ehnis and Alexander Ehnis.
In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his brother, David.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial services are pending.
In remembrance of Richard, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of one's choice
