Charlie was born, July 22, 1952, in Gaylord, the son of Alfred Frederick Brown and Mary Grace Atherton.
Charlie was a life long restaurateur. He started at 18 years old working at Big Boy Restaurant in Gaylord. Charlie later owned and operated a restaurant in Florida.
In Northport, Charlie owned and operated the Willow Brook Restaurant for 20 years. He was a beloved part of the Northport community.
Charlie was a great brother, friend and companion with a great sense of humor. He liked collecting antiques, especially cobalt glasses.
He loved spending winters in Florida, where he had many friends and family.
Charlie is survived by his nephew, Christopher Harrington; great-nephew, Robert Clutts; great-niece, Stormy Harrington; three sisters, Donna Brown of Northport, Nola Brown of Battle Creek, Joyce Padgett of Grayling; two brothers, Gene Brown of Grayling, Richard Brown of Frederic; and many, many more loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Lillian Main, Alvin Bud Brown, Mary Jane Vevier, Joan Denno and Linda Busey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Northport. Burial will be held in Leelanau Township Cemetery, Northport.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Trinity Church of the United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 156, Northport, MI 49670.
Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

Charlie was my Uncle, he had a great sense of humor and love for his family and friends. He will be a great lost to this world. I know God will be lucky to have him in heaven. I will miss him here on earth.

Our Condolances to Charles family. He was a great person at Willowbrook. In Northport Michigan. We ate there many times and he became our friend. Blessings to the family. Mary and George Shiner
He will be missed by very many of the people who ate at Willowbrook and have missed his meals since he sold his place.
