ALDEN — Shirley Arlene Sangerl, age 88, of Alden passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2008, at Meadowbrook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire. Shirley was born in Saginaw on Nov. 7, 1919, the daughter of the late Walter and Clara (Ruff) May. She married Ira Sangerl on April 14, 1939, at the Fort Street Presbyterian Church in Detroit. She will be sadly missed by her husband, Ira Sangerl of Alden; daughter, Susan (William) Acord of Alden; son, Skip (Linda) Sangerl of Sheboygan Falls, Wis.; grandchildren, Michelle (Frank) Lozenich, Leanna (Scott) Beaumont, Kelli Acord and Barbara Allen; great-grandchildren, Frankie, Jenna, Jason and Danielle; and her special nieces and nephew. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a dear niece. A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, at Alden Methodist Church in Alden, with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. The family received friends for visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service. Cremation has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee. Memorial contributions may be made either to the Antrim County Commission on Aging, PO Box 614, Bellaire, MI 49615 or Hospice of Northwest Michigan, PO Box 233, Boyne City, MI 49712. The family has entrusted funeral arrangements to Oak Grove Cremation Center in Manistee.
