Stuart Gale Obituary

Stuart

GALE

March 19, 1950 - April 14, 2008

Stuart Gale, 58, beloved husband and father, passed away at home on Monday April 14, 2008 after a battle with cancer. Born in Elko, NV, his family moved to Reno in 1956. He graduated from Reno High School in 1968. Stuart was a master silversmith engraver for Chet Lima Saddles until 1982 working with local saddle makers and silversmiths. In 1984 he joined local union 363 I.A.T.S.E. (International Alliance Theatrical Stage Employees) and at the time of his passing was the President of the union. Stuart is remembered for his kind heart, humorous storytelling, and his “sheepherding“ ways. Stuart accomplished much in his art and work but he always said his greatest accomplishment was raising his two sons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dow Gale and his mother Josephine Ansotegui, Dixon. He is survived by his wife, Susan; sons Stephen and Kurtis; and brother James Gale of Reno and sister Geri Cavanagh of Phoenix, AZ; and many uncles, aunts and cousins.

A memorial mass will take place on Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, 1250 Wyoming Avenue. Stuart was proud of his Basque heritage and loved his faithful companions, his dogs. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Center for Basque Studies at UNR or the Nevada Humane Society. The family invites you to leave a condolence message in the “family guestbook“ at www.waltonsfuneralhomes.com

I was sorry to hear of Stuart's passing. I enjoyed the times we spent together as we were growing up. My regret, like Janell's, is that we did not stay in contact.

I was so sorry to hear of Stuart's passing. He was very special to me, my biggest regret is the fact that we
did not keep in contact. My thoughts are with each and every one of you.

I am sorry to hear of Stuart's early passing. We shared some memorable moments in our youth. I will always have the memories of our youthful days together finding our way. I am sorry for your loss. He had a magnetic personality that will always be remembered.
Sincerely,
