Howard Akers Obituary

Howard William Akers, 81, of Radford, Va., passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008. He was the son of the late Harry and Mary Akers. He was preceded in death by his brother, Marvin "Bob" Akers. His is survived by sisters and son-in-law, Gladys and Ralph Vaughan, and Maggie Sue Lytton. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008, at New River Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Everette Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in the Akers Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2008, at Horne Funeral Service. The Akers family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg, Va., 540-382-2612.
