Roy Witt Obituary

Roy (David) Witt, 60, of Huddleston, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at his residence. He was born in Bedford on June 27, 1948, a son of Ouida Mayhew Witt and the late Roy R. Witt. He was the manager for the Elm Park Estates Independent Retirement Facility, in Roanoke, and a member of Shenandoah Baptist Church, in Roanoke. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn Simmons Witt; his children, Megan Witt Bright and her husband, John Chadwick Bright, Casey Witt Dollahan and her husband, Josh; his brother, Tommy Witt and his wife, Rhonda; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Winford N. Simmons and Barbara Ann Simmons; brother-in-law, Michael Simmons; sister-in-law, Cheryl Martin and husband, Mark; nephew, Caleb Martin; niece, Cassidy Witt Styles and husband, Todd; great-nephew, Carter Styles; great-niece, Carsyn Styles; niece, Kelly Witt; great-nephew, Kord Witt. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at Thaxton Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Mabrey and the Rev. Josh Dollahan officiating. Immediately following the funeral, the family will go to the reception hall at the church to receive friends. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. the same day in the Martin Family Cemetery, in Roanoke. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday evening at Burch-Messier Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 317 W. Main Street, Bedford, (easy access off of Washington St.), 540-586-7360.
