Randolph Spence Obituary

Randolph Junior Spence, 74, of Fincastle, beloved husband, father and grandfather went to be with his LORD on Friday, August 15, 2008. Born January 1, 1934, in Fincastle, he was a son of the late Bass and Mary Dooley Spence. He married June Slusser on March 10, 1958, a union of 50 years. Randolph joined the Marine Corps on May 8, 1952, and served with honor in the Korean War. Following service in the Marines, he worked as a landscaper and owned Spence Landscaping. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Edward Spence; and two sisters, Vestal St.Clair and Arlene Moran. He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving and devoted wife, June Slusser Spence; five sons, Rex (Buddy) Spence and special friend, Peggy Goad, of Fincastle, Randy Spence and wife, Donna, of Bedford, Johnny Spence and wife, Brenda, of Blue Ridge, Charles (Red) Spence and friend, Nancy Rakes, of Troutville, and Carl (Fuzzy) Spence and wife, Sadie, of Troutville; a stepson, Larry Sprinkle, of North Carolina; four brothers, Maynard, Robert, Garland (Butch) and Larry Spence; and three sisters, Ruby Moran, Margaret Goad and Carolyn Honig. Also surviving are five grandchildren, James Randolph, Travis, Chassidy, Eric and Justin Spence; and two great-grandchildren. A service celebrating Randolph's life will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008, at the Rader Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Pastor Robert Paxton. Interment, with full Military Honors will follow in Mount Union Cemetery. His family will receive friends on Monday, August 18, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
