Carolyn Brizzolara Obituary

Carolyn Lee (Lynne) Brizzolara, 72, of Roanoke, passed on Tuesday, August 19, 2008, after a valiant fight with Brain Cancer. She was born to the late Clarence and Ruth Ohmstede on November 7, 1935, in Los Angeles, Calif. Lynne attended the University of Southern California and married L.E. Brizzolara Jr. in 1954. They relocated numerous times before settling down in Roanoke, Va., in 1991. Through the years, Lynne volunteered in activities too numerous to list. Her greatest passion was her volunteer work for Siamese Cat Rescue. She had a voracious appetite and love for the game of Bridge. She enjoyed the companionship of her many Bridge friends. Lynne is survived by her husband of 54 years, Louis Edward Brizzolara Jr.; three children, L.E. Brizzolara III and wife, Kate, of Dallas, Texas, Anthony John Brizzolara and wife, Sally, of Atlanta, Ga., and Luisa Brizzolara Hahn and husband, Marshall Hahn, of Roanoke, Va.; four grandchildren, Scott Andrew Brizzolara and Carol Ann Brizzolara, of Dallas, Texas, and Jordan Alexander Hahn and Travis James Hahn, of Roanoke, Va.; and a very special best friend, Doris Skidmore of Roanoke, Va. She will also be missed by her two Siamese cats, Saki and Annie. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Raleigh Court Health & Rehabilitation for their outstanding care and compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Siamese Cat Rescue Center, 366 Meander Run Road, Locust Dale, Va. 22948. Arrangements are being made for a "Celebration of Life" and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel & Crematory, 540-989-3131.

This being a time of mourning for both of our families I sincerely feel your loss. Carolyn and my Mother were roommates at the same time at Raliegh Court Healthcare. We can now realize the peace knowing they are both at rest free from all the pain they both suffered. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
