Ray Lawrence Obituary

Ray Fulton Lawrence, 83, of Rocky Mount, and formerly of Salem, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2008. He was retired from General Electric in Salem after many years of service and was a World War II veteran. He was the son of the late Branard M. and Bertha Clower Lawrence. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lynwood Lawrence and Ralph Lawrence. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce R. and Nancy Lawrence, of Roanoke; three daughters and sonsin-law, Carol L. and Geary Long, of Floyd, Lorna L. and Douglas Martin, of Salem, and Tonya R. Lawrence, of Roanoke; a brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Nancy Lawrence, of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Waneta Lawrence, of Salem; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 22, 2008, at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Lane officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 21, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lotz Funeral Home Salem Chapel.
