Just saw a music video and made me think of Kenny. My heart still hurts when I think of such a loss. I think of his sacrifice, and the sacrifices of our soldiers often. What unselfish people they are to do what they do. Praying for he family today and always.

Gibson, its been another year and it still hurts me just as bad. You saved my life by sacrificing your own and you will always be a part of me. I will never forget what you have done and will continue to honor you as best as I can. I pray for you and your family daily and I hope they find peace knowing what a hero you are and the impact you have had on so many lives. I can't wait to see you again on down the road. Rest in peace, brother.
To all Kenny's family and friends: nothing can replace the loss of a great man, but be assured his death was not in vain. Kenny continues to serve a purpose far greater than we could ever understand. I am praying for you today and for the rest of my life.

To SGT Gibson's family,
I was the senior retention NCO for the 2nd Stryker Brigade during OIF 07-09. I met your son in the summer of 2008 while riding in his Stryker out to his company's JSS to speak with him and his fellow Soldiers about reenlisting. Although we only spoke briefly, I could see he was a smart young man and a great non-commissioned officer. My prayers go out to you.

I'm sorry to say I didn't know Kenneth. I was at the Dover AFB when he retured home to the United States. I can say, I watched over him like he was my brother. We did everything we counld to make sure he returned home to his Family and Loved ones at fast as we could. My job (Mortuary Affairs) is rewarding to me. I love making sure my fellow brother and sisters are given the respect they are due when they come home.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Kenneth, but I am remembering

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

Rob, Athena, Nikki;
I am so honored to have known such a man as Kenny. Though I had limited interaction with Kenny at CHS, he was always a guy you could see in the hall and wave to or say hi. When I deployed in 2004 to Iraq I was surprised to find Kenny outside the DFAC one evening. For those 5 minutes that we spoke everything else disappeared. The sand, the heat, the fear. His smile and the way we talked about home that day was a day I'll never forget. I saw him a few more times throughout that year. We always talked about home, and even talked about a recent CHS-BHS football game, nothing else seemed to matter for those precious moments.
Kenny was hero long before those fateful events just two weeks ago. Kenny had the ability and drive to remove all worries and all cares, if even for a moment. I am lucky to have even known such a great man, and I look forward to the day when I can greet him again.

To the family and parents of Kenneth I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

Nikki and Gibson family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Kenny was a great friend who could always make me smile. I have many great memories of Kenny, but the one that stands out right now is how excited he was when he found out what I had cooked for Christmas lunch. I truly feel Ehren said it best.
It's not fair. It's not fair that you have been taken from us so soon. It's not fair that a faceless enemy was allowed to take the life of one of the better men, and certainly one of the best husbands, I have ever known. It's not fair that your wife has to live her worst nightmare. It's not fair that your mother has to put her son in the ground.
I will say that, at least you died doing something you believed was important, and whether I agree with the cause or not, I respect the fact that you and those like you put your lives in danger to protect those who can't protect themselves. It's not fair that you were the one who paid the ultimate price. The world was a better place with you in it, and it's a little darker now. We are all better people because we knew you. You will be eternally missed and forever remembered. It's not fair that you had to go. Rest in Peace Kenny Gibson.

I will never forget Kenny. I remember him from Harold and Ruby Spencer's house when my best friend Sabrina would babysit him. There was never any doubt that he would grow up to be a respectable young man. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. My heart is saddened by this. I have been praying for Rob and Athena and all the family everyday even though I don't really know you that well. Kenny became a part of the Spencer family just like I did. God bless you and keep you in his loving hands. GOD BLESS AMERICA. And God Bless our brave soldiers who fight everyday to keep the peaceful life back here that we take so easily for granted. Kenny, GREAT IS THY REWARD!!!!!

Ken, I just wanted to say thank you for your brave and honorable service to a grateful nation, a nation in mourning for our fallen hero’s. You like so many other soldiers chose to serve our nation when needed most and with your life you protected the very core of what America stands for. My nephew PFC Aaron J. Ward also made that sacrifice on 5/6/2008 when he was killed in action in Iraq. As I mourn for my nephew I mourn for you and so many other brave soldiers and know that you all will forever be in my thoughts and prayers, we as a nation will never forget you. I stand tall and salute you Ken and from the bottom of my heart I thank you for the nights we at home could sleep without fear and know that we are safe. To the Gibson family, words cannot express the pain we now share, but our families will forever have a bond and we will be thinking of Ken and your family and will keep you in our thoughts & prayers. Please accept my heart felt condolences and my prayer that god help you cope with this tragic loss and may the memories of your HERO carry you through each day. From one Gold Star family to another!

I will never forget the first time I met Kenny. My sister was asked to babysit him and myself the summer after fourth grade. He walked into our house with a smile that could light up a room. No mater who you were or what you were going through he was always there for you to help you out and to make you smile. I will always charish the love and friendship he gave to me, he was and still is my best friend he was very thoughtful and generous, he always knew what to say.I will always remember our families going out together and going to his house and watching movies. when he was around nothing else seemed to matter. I never really knew you Nikki as well as i knew Kenny but I do know one thing in the short time that I seen you two together I knew that you were both great for each other and that Kenny truly loved you with all his heart never forget that. Always remember that he is in heaven watching over you.I am very proud of Kenny for the love and bravery that he had for his country. He will be missed truly but never forgotten. My love and prayers go out to Athena, Rob, Jessie, and Nikki we love you.
I love you Kenny and I will never forget you.

I don't know where to start but to tell the Gibson Family that their loved one was just that, he was, is and will always be "Loved". SGT Gibson will dearly be missed and i will always have his family in my prayers. The Gibson family, friends, A. Co 1-14th IN, 3rd Platoon and anyone whoever got to see his smile or just crossed paths with him are lucky to have spent time with such a great selfless individual. May God be with you and us always.

Rob and Athena,
I'm not sure that you will remember me. I worked with you both at MRH when you got married and at the time Kenny was born. I know that there are no words that will lessen your grief, but I wanted to let you know how very sorry I am for your loss.

I don't know how to start this, so I'll just say how sad we are to think of the pain you all are feeling, and pray you will be comforted. We are Chad Ward's parents, who was with Kenny that day. We are thankful for what he meant to Chad, and will never, never forget him or his sacrifice. May God lift each of you up and through this terrible loss.
