James Madison Main

James Madison Main, 71, of Salem, Virginia met his Savior on Saturday, August 23, 2008. Mr. Main was a former owner of The Graham Boiler Company. He learned the boiler mechanic skill from his father-in-law (Willis Graham), and passed the skill to his son Mike. Mr. Main was a member of the Goodwin Memorial United Methodist Church. He will be remembered for his generous agape love to all and his constant helping of others in all trades related to everyday life. He is survived by his wife Betty Main, of Salem; two sons, Michael Main, of Salem, Kenneth Main, of Spotsylvania, Virginia; and daughter, Rhonda Helms and son-in-law Steven Helms, Ill; and two granddaughters, Amy Helms and Sarah Helms, of Fredericksburg, Virginia; special niece, Erica Abercrombie and her children, Chloe, Carly and Wade Abercrombie, of Braselton, Georgia; two brothers, Lloyd Jay Main, of Shawsville and Tommy Main, of Radford; two sisters, Virgie Belle Sweeney, of Salem and Martha Fitzwater, of Elliston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter L. and Alma Celeste Main, brothers, Walter Armon Main and Elmon Main, and one sister, Regent Rakes. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 12 noon at the Lotz Salem Chapel, with the Rev. James S. Angle officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Monday, August 25, 2008 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel. Flowers will be welcomed, but you may send donations to the Goodwin Memorial United Methodist Church Building Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
