Lula Wilson Obituary

Lula Kermit Wilson, 94, of Pembroke, departed this life on Sunday evening, August 24, 2008, at Riverview Nursing Home in Rich Creek. Born in Smyth County on November 6, 1913, she was a daughter of the late James and Dina Frye Prater. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Thomas Wilson; her son, Robert D. Wilson; her daughter, Nancy W. Reed; her brothers, Lamuel, James, Cecil and Melvin Prater; and her sisters, Evelyn Prater, Willie Ward, Maude Atwood, Lillian Lewis, Exie Nutter and Maxie Frye. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and son-in-law, Ella Jean and Glen Athey, of Pembroke; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Wilson, of Pembroke; her son-in-law, Gary Reed, of Pembroke; her nine grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in the Kendall Funeral Home, 605 Snidow St. in Pembroke. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, August 27, 2008, in Birchlawn Burial Park in Pearisburg. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at Riverview Nursing Home for the care given to Lula during her stay there.
