Charles Hodge Obituary

Charles Carson Hodge, 81, of Pearisburg, Va., passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Mr. Hodge was born on August 1, 1927, in Bane, Va., and was a son of the late Charles A. and Mary Carper Hodge. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred H. Barton. Mr. Hodge was a World War II Army Veteran, a retired employee of the Celanese Plant in Narrows with 42 years service, a member of Providence United Methodist Church, member of the White Gate Ruritan Club that he dearly loved, and was a member of the RSVP, NRCA and American Legion Post #311. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Irene Kelly Hodge, of Pearisburg; one daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Benny Johnson, of Gretna; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Izma Hodge, of Pearisburg; two brothers, Danny Hodge and wife, Loretta, of Pearisburg, and Newton Hodge, of Greenville, S.C.; two sisters, Betty Muncy and husband, Jess, of Moneta, and Rowana H. Kelly, of Greenville, S.C.; one granddaughter, Angela Huff; and one great-granddaughter, Brooke Huff. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008, at the Givens Funeral Chapel in Pearisburg with the Rev. Ted Anders and the Rev. Eddie Kendall officiating with entombment following in the Birchlawn Abbey in Pearisburg, Va. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, August 29, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Givens Funeral Home in Pearisburg. Military Honors will be given by American Legion Post #68 in Narrows, American Legion Post #311 and VFW Post #6000 in Narrows. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Providence United Methodist Church, c/o Betty Kelly, 338 Crile Lane, Pearisburg, Va. 24134 and White Gate Ruritan Club, c/o Ernest Miller, 369 Walkers Creek Valley Road, Pearisburg, Va. We loved seeing Caron at the Arthur
