Arthur Geen Obituary

Dr. Arthur Aloysius Geen, 81, of Buena Vista, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008, at his home. He was born January 6, 1927, in New Jersey, son of the late Arthur A. Geen and Marion Sweeney Geen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Mary Patricia Geen; and one nephew, Kevin McCormac Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Baur Geen; two daughters, Annette Jones and LauraJane Wilson, both of Lexington; two sons, Paul Edward Geen, of Arizona, and Brian Arthur Geenbaur, of Cambridge, Mass.; one sister, Betty Anne Mitchell; one niece, Kelly Anne McDonnell; one nephew, Michael Arthur Mitchell; 12 grandchildren, Sarahjane Geen, Michael Paul Geen, Adam Mathew Geen, Joshua James Jones, Rebeca Lee Richard, Angela Marie Wheeler, Kimberly Annette Sheely, Lindsey Barbara Jones, Wendy Olympia Wilson, Carlene Joyce Wilson, Luke Lauris Wilson and Hayley Baird Wilson; and one great-grandson, Thomas Gordon Jones. He was a graduate of Danbury High School Class of 1945, in Connecticut. Dr. Geen served as a Corpsman in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Temple University School of Dentistry and a member of the Connecticut Dental Association. Dr. Geen established and ran a free dental clinic at St. Mary's Elementary School in Bethel, Conn. In addition Dr. Geen was a member of The Lake Candlewood Power Squadron and an honorary first mate of the Triple Masted Schooner: The Victory Chimes of Castine, Maine. Father Joseph D'Aurora will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lexington, Va., on Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. Arrangements by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Service, Buena Vista, Va.
