Donald Lee Blankenship, 77, of Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, in the local hospital. He was born September 25, 1930, a son of the late Henry and Frances Blankenship and was preceded in death by his wife, Ester Mae Blankenship, on February 5, 2008; his siblings, Mildred Wade Peters, Audrey Blankenship, Tommy Blankenship and James Blankenship; and his parents. Mr. Blankenship is survived by his children, Danny and Lois, Rickey and Valerie, Ronald, Barry and Donna, Cheryl and Danny Hodges, Jerry, Perry and Denise, Lorenda and Rex Goodman and Michael; 13 grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; siblings, Reid Blankenship, Betty Robertson, Nancy and W.D. Young and Joyce Carol Ledbetter. Funeral services will be conducted 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2008, from Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will be private at Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foster Care of Roanoke Valley. The family will receive friends on Wednesday prior to the service from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va.
