Maxine S. Blevins

Maxine S. Blevins, 86, of Marion, Va., passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Mrs. Blevins was born in West Virginia to the late R.T. Sexton and Mary Sheets Sexton and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Church of God since the age of 16 and served the church in many different capacities. First and foremost Maxine was a beloved greatgrandmother and was the best wife, mother and sister in the world. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 ½ years, Lavern Blevins; two daughters, Betty Jean 'Sandy" Powers and husband, Dale, of Salem, Va., and Kathy Bowen, of Marion, Va.; two sisters, Florence Funk and husband, Wayne, of Marion, Va., and Maudie Faye, of Portsmouth, Va.; grandchildren, Amy Powers, LeAnne Crews, Jennifer Meek and Chad Kelly; greatgrandchildren, Morgan, Ethan, Meaghan, Savanna, Alyssa, Nate and Bryson; one step grandchild, Tyler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, from the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with the Rev. Ron Hill, the Rev. Arthur Chapman and the Rev. Carl White officiating. Entombment will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2008, at the Rosewood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
