To the James Haworth Family:

James and I were in the same confirmation and Sunday school class at Reynolds. We grew up together at church, and I have many memories of James and his sweet personality. I have kept up with him through my parents, Lucy Gilmer, and an occasional phone call. The last time I spoke to James we said we would share pizza at Bellas. Wish I had been able to do that!

James was a special person who was a constant and steadfast friend to so many.

My thoughts and prayers to all who loved and knew James.

All the best,
Donna (Gilbert) Westbrook

Memories of my years at Virginia Schools would not be as enjoyable without thoughts of one special student, James Haworth! He radiated more joy and sunshine than anyone I have ever known!
What a truly special young man he was!

I left Bristol in 1981, but my students and friends are indelible images in my heart and mind. James is one of them.

I thank the good Lord that he passed my way! What a guy! What a disciple!

Love and prayers,

The last time I saw James, Greg's family and I stoped by his house on our Christmas visit to Bristol. One thing I will always remember about him was his laugh. And he always had a good story to tell. James was a good friend.

Family of James Haworth,
James was a good friend and co-worker of my Father-in law and I really enjoyed talking to him. I don't think you could talk to James without laughing!I only knew James for about 8 years, but everytime I saw him he was smiling and asking about my family and how we were doing. James had a deep compassion for others and was so fun to be around. He made you feel like part of his family and he is truly going to be missed by my family and many others!

In a world that moves faster and faster every day, James never forgot his roots, and particularly, never forgot the people around him. I've had the privilege of knowing James since we were in the third grade together at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in Bristol Virginia, and can honestly say that we grew up together. As life separates our peers, James always made the effort to keep up with those around him, taking the time to make a call, or pop in for a personal visit. Our kids became his kids, and his warmth and enthusiasm were always welcomed. He was the epitome of friendship, one that we should all take a lesson from, and he will be sorely missed.
