Adrianne Bishop Obituary

Adrianne Lavourne Smith Bishop, 83, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 2, 2008. Mrs. Bishop was born in Alexandria, Va., on December 26, 1924, the daughter of the late James M. and Thelma Powell Smith. She was a 1944 graduate of Jefferson High School. She wed Bernard Barry Bishop on December 14, 1946. She and her family are members of Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Elaine Haarsgaard. Mrs. Bishop leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 61 years, Bernard B. Bishop; seven loving and devoted children, Robert P. Bishop and wife, Julie, of Salem, Jane B. Atkinson and husband, Robert, of Apex, N.C., Linda L. Allman and husband, James, of Smith Mountain Lake, Phillip S. Bishop and wife, Lesa, of Roanoke, Brian A. Bishop and wife, Mary, of Vinton, Carol A. Kearns and husband, Jeff, of Valley View, Texas, and Gary A. Bishop and wife, Tammy, of Rock Hill, S.C.; and a loving brother, Karl Smith and wife, Thelma, of Vinton. Also, surviving are 14 loving grandchildren, Tripp, Wendy, Tracy, Christopher, Richie, Danny, Adam, Shannon, Peyton, Ryan, Justin, Katie, James and Patrick; and several greatgrandchildren. A Celebration of Mrs. Bishop's Life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2008, at the Roanoke Chapel of Lotz Funeral Home officiated by Father Joseph Lehman. Interment will follow in St. Andrews Catholic Cemetery. Mrs. Bishop's family will receive friends on Thursday, September 4, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
