Kenneth William Miley

Kenneth William (Sam) Miley, of 190 Kings Grant Dr. passed away Friday in Rutherfordton, N.C. Ken was born November 12, 1935 in Lexington, Va. to Walter Samuel Miley and Elizabeth Coleman Clemmer and was raised by his mother and loving stepfather, Phillip Rufner Clemmer. From his early childhood roots in Rockbridge County, Va. Ken developed a love of all things outdoors, including what would become his lifelong passion for gardening. His greatest gift was sharing these lessons and their underpinning values with others, particularly his children and grandchildren. He was proud of his success in a 30 year career with Reeve's Brothers, but his most cherished accomplishment was the network of friendships and storytelling developed during those years, that survive to this day. Ken was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth Michael Miley and his adored wife, Katie Moore Miley and in December of 2007, his mother, Elizabeth Clemmer. Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jann Jerkins, of Vero Beach, Fla.; granddaughter, Miley DeBrule, of Stuart, Fla.; and grandson, William Stephan DeBrule, of Boise, Idaho. The family will receive friends at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Crowe's Mortuary in Rutherfordton. Further arrangements will be held in Lexington, Va. and will be announced later.
