Dale Willey Obituary

Dale Everett Willey, 92, of Salem, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2008, at Magnolia Ridge Assisted Living Center. He moved to Salem in 1952 with his wife and four children. With their own hands, they designed and built a home "on top of the hill" with a panoramic view of the mountains that they had fallen in love with. Dale retired in 1976 from GE. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Miriam; and son, Doug. He is survived by son, Bruce B. Willey; daughters, Jackie Van Winkle and Judy Maw; 14 grandchildren; 27 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He considered the staff and residents of Magnolia Ridge as part of his extended family and he greatly appreciated their care and friendship. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday September 9, 2008, at the home on "the hill," 3314 Lapping Lane, Salem Va. Memorial services will be private. The Willey family is being served by Valley Funeral Service, 1609 Peters Creek Road, N.W., Roanoke, Va. 24017, 540-562-1182.
