Cynthia Dianne Eubank Moore

1951 - 2008

Cynthia Moore Obituary

On Sunday, September 7, 2008, at 7:50 in the evening, Cynthia Dianne Eubank Moore passed from this world to the next as the result of nearly 57 years of hard living and one overwhelming case of cancer. She now rests with her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her late husband, Kenny Moore. She leaves to ponder this mystery, a sister, Joyce Eubank Shultz, Joyce's husband, Wayne Shultz, and their son Brandon, all of the Staunton area; and stepdaughters, Cynthia M. Tucker, Kimberlee M. DeHart and Tamara Elizabeth Moore. Also cousins and her church family and uncles and aunts and sisters and brothers in Christ and more cousins and work acquaintances and clients and more cousins. Also, all those friends God sent during her life to help her get by. Dianne was born in Bedford, Va., on October 11, 1951, to the late Warren and Eunice Eubank, a part of the large (and prolific) Eubank and Minnick families of Bedford County. She was educated in the schools of Bedford County and attended Madison College, now James Madison University, where she majored in journalism and wild living. With just a bit of encouragement, Dianne could have been a world-class writer and we could now list her accomplishments, honors, and awards. Instead, she worked for various concerns, including Wright's Dairy Rite, a furniture factory and a construction company in Staunton, Va. She managed stores for 7-11 in Roanoke, Vinton and Richmond, and she cleaned houses for the local rich and famous. She always made her own way and she always made ends meet.
Then, Christ called Dianne to heed his word and she did so with all the determination and strength she had. She was a staunch member and defender of Laurel Grove Presbyterian Church in Wheat's Valley and Pastor and Mrs. Larry Mills. She served on several Presbytery committees, as Clerk of Session, as Sunday school teacher, and she cleaned the sanctuary. She watched after her church family, which came to include Peaks Presbyterian Church, with compassion and a fierceness that was a marvel to behold. Her faith gave her peace and joy and a calmness, even in the face of her own illness, that made her much more concerned with those around her than herself, and made her a hoot to be around until the very end. Dianne had one month to the day from her diagnosis to her passing and even she was amazed at the outpouring of love. She got to see just about everyone she knew in that time. Sometimes God gives you a victory lap and this was hers.
Dianne's family would like to express their gratitude to Doctors Paul, Brady and MacNeill and the staff of the Pearson Cancer Center along with the doctors, nurses, technicians and everyone else who tended to Dianne at Lynchburg General Hospital and Virginia Baptist Hospital for their tenderness and care. We expect you won't soon forget her. To the Larry and Maggie and the church families, thank you for the visits and the prayers and the blessings you have been to Dianne and to us. And to Dianne's blessed friend, Mary Stevens, we can't say enough; you are now family.
Dianne left explicit instructions as to her wishes for her home-going service; no dismal music and no blubbering. Visitation with the family will be at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008. The celebration of the life of Dianne Eubank Moore will start at Laurel Grove Presbyterian Church on Wheat's Valley Road at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 11, 2008, with Larry Mills officiating and proceed thence to the graveside at Virginia Memorial Gardens. Dianne will be resplendent in blue jeans and a tank top, so come as you feel comfortable. Dianne was very worried about hurting our creaky old backs so there will be no pallbearers. However, honorary pallbearers will be all those cousins we told you about, all those cousin's spouses and kids, and anyone else who would like to be Dianne's cousin for this special day. Memorial contributions may be made to Laurel Grove Presbyterian Church, in care of the Rev. Larry Mills, 1521 Oakwood Street, Bedford, Va. 24523.

I have so many fond memories of Dianne that I don't know where to start. I met Dianne 32 yrs. ago when I was going through a divorce and really needed a friend. Dianne and I became friends instantly.
She lived with me and my children for a good while and my kids just absolutely adored her.
She was wild and crazy and kept us laughing all the time. I would have to get after her just like I did my kids and she started to call me MOM.
She would send me mothers day cards on Mothers Day and called me mom until the end.
I dearly loved her and she was my very best friend in the whole wide world, and the only one that I knew I could trust. I would have trusted her with my life.

I will miss her terribly and will remember her always. God has gained a real Angel. May he hold her in his loving arms.

Until we meet again, my dear friend.
