Thomas Conn Obituary

Thomas F. Conn, 69, of Troutville, Va., and formerly of Philadelphia, Pa., passed away on Monday, September 15, 2008. He was a member of the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Centennial School Board in Philadelphia, an Advocate for Children with Learning Disabilities, member of CASA Child Advocacy, and a retired Credit Card Manager with First Union Bank. Thomas was a caring and wonderful husband, devoted father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas F. and Catherine Conn. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Madeline M. Conn; son, Thomas M. Conn; two daughters, Eileen P. Maldonado and her husband, Geovanny, and Deborah A. Jones and her husband, Jaye; three grandchildren, Catherine Jones, Madeline Jones, and Ragan M. Maldonado and his wife, Ashtin; great-grandson, Gavin Maldonado; sister, Kathleen Dougherty and her husband, Charles; two nephews, Charles and Kevin Dougherty; niece, Shannon Dougherty; and many friends and close associates. The family would like to express a special thanks to the Friendship Manor Dialysis Center and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for their kind and loving care. A Funeral Mass will be held 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008, at St. Andrew's Catholic Church with the Rev. Msgr. Thomas G. Miller officiating. A private entombment will follow at a later date. The family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral. Those wishing to make a memorial please consider the CASA of Roanoke Valley. Arrangements by Oakey's East Chapel and Crematory, Bonsack, Va., 540-977-3909.

Tom was a great man, I learned alot of landscaping tips from Mr. Conn. over the last couple years. My thoughts and prayers are with Mrs. Conn in this time of grief. God Bless You and your Family.
