Mattie Lucille Otey

Mattie Lucille Otey, 83, of Salem, Va., went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, September 14, 2008. She was born on July 18, 1925, in Marion, Va., a daughter of the late Joe Ellis and Ollie Ashby Otey. She was also preceded in death by four brothers; and one sister. Mrs. Otey was a retired Dietician from Snyder Nursing Home. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-law, Charlotte Robinson, of Salem, and Mary (Susie) and Tom Justice, of Salem; three sisters, Marcella Cassidy, of Bumpass, Va., Helen Gillette, of Clinton, Md., and Emmie Ruth Otey, of Salem; five grandsons, two granddaughters, six greatgrandsons; two greatgranddaughters; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2008, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son, Salem with the Rev. Samuel J. Huntley officiating. Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 16, 2008, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
