Kay,
Hearing of Don's illness and passing has been a shock. I'm so glad that he was able to fill the pulpit several times for me at Manly Memorial and share his messages with the VMI cadets there. He was a good man, a passionate Virginia Baptist and a devoted Christian. Lucy and I will miss him and will be praying for you. May God be near you and comfort you.

Christiansburg ecumenical gatherings will be less one great preacher. The last sermon I heard Don preach was at the church I serve. He preached on politics and particularly on war. I remember thinking, "He is a brave witness, and he speaks a truth we need to hear." I give thanks to God for the words given to this humble preacher, Donald Dunlap. May those of us who heard him honor him by living what he taught.

Kay,
Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I was so saddened to hear of Don's passing. I know that he and Lilburn are catching up. We will miss him. I will never forget his speaking at Lilburn's memorial service and I will never forget the times I had to chat with you two. My love and heart goes out to you.

I gasped when I read the paper! Don has been a friend to me throughout my ministry -- a supportive presence in some of the greatest joys and the darkest nights of my soul. I will forever be grateful for his friendship, his authenticity, his courage, and willingness to take bold stands for religious liberty. Don was the very best of what it means to be baptist! My life is richer having known him.

Don is absent from the body and present with our Lord Jesus Christ Whom Don proclaimed during his life. "Eye has not seen nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love Him." New King James Bible
