Stella Combs Obituary

Stella M. (Garman) Combs, 84, of Fredericksburg, Va., passed away on Monday, September 15, 2008. She was born on February 21, 1924, in Catawba and was the daughter of the late Boyd and Annie Garman. She was part owner and operator of Alexandria Medical Exchange. In addition to her parents, Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis B. Combs Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Meggs and husband, David; brother, Gene Garman; sister, Florence Beckner; two granddaughters, Teresa Meggs and Kathy Meyer; five greatgrandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the chapel of John M. Oakey and Son Funeral Home with the Reverend Brenda Viars officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, September 19, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem. To send condolences to the family online, please register at www.johnmoakey.com
