Thelma McMillan Obituary

Thelma Mae McMillan, 93, of Wytheville, Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in Wythe County Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas (Jerd) Jordan and Jessie Lillian Jones McMillan of Speedwell and was a kind, loving, and caring person who will be greatly missed. She moved to Washington, D.C., a few years after graduating from Speedwell High School. She retired from the FBI in 1976 and returned to Wytheville. She was an active member in the District of Columbia Easter Star, she served in the USO during the war years, and was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees Wilderness Trail Chapter 1837. She was preceded in death by five brothers, William, George, Julian, Curtis and Marco McMillan; and four sisters, Verna Hilton, Elizabeth Wolfe, Eva Fisher and Margaret Boyd. She is survived by her two sisters, Ruby Crigger, of Wytheville, and Beulah Houshour, of Richmond; sister-in-law, Elsie McMillan, of Galax; and 19 nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Friday, September 19, 2008, in the Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Frank McDonald with the interment in the Speedwell United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home on Friday from 1 p.m. until service time. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
