Julian Burley Obituary

Julian M. Burley, 77, of Moneta, died Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the VA Medical Center, Salem, Va. A son of the late Howard Thompson Burley and Viola Stinnett Burley, he was born in Amherst County on December 10, 1930. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Larry Burley; four brothers and four sisters. Julian was a United States Army veteran during Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Myrtle Holland Burley; a son, Julian Marshall Burley and wife, Vickie, of Bedford; a daughter, Karen B. Prescott and husband, Robert, of Evington; a brother, Bernard A. (Pete) Burley and wife, Lucille, of Lynchburg; a sister, Anne B. Creasey, of Bedford; four grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday September 23, 2008, at Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Whitt officiating. The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home on Monday September 22, 2008, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. To send condolences online visit tharpfuneralhome.com. Myrtle,Marshall,Vickie and Chris,
We are very sorry for the loss of Julian. We haven't seen you guys for quite sometime but,please know you are in our thoughts and prayers. He is in heaven now with Dalton(daddy) and my son Brandon. Can you imagine the time they are having. No more pain. God will get us through the rough times. Remember the good times.

Myrtle, we are so sorry for you loss. We will miss Julian, but we do have all our good memories of him. He was always a fun loving person. He will be missed and we hope that you remember that he is with God now and is whole and healthy and waiting with Larry for the rest of us. Our love and prayers are with you, Marshall and Sissy. We love you, Pete, Lucille, Patsy, Barbara and JD.

Aunt Myrtle, Marshall and Sissy I am sorry for your loss. I haven't seen Uncle Julian in years but I will always remember the funny man he was. All the family get togethers when I was young, and so were mom and dad and the jokes he would tell and play. My heart goes out to you all. You are in my prayers.
