Bessie Silvers Sasser

Bessie Silvers Sasser, 95, of Bedford, Va., passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born on Sunday, April 20, 1913, in Radford, a daughter of the late James W. Silvers and Mamie Eleaf Long Silvers. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Denver Carlyle Sasser. She was a retired bookkeeper and housewife and was a member of Staunton Baptist Church. Surviving is her grandson, Colin Sasser, of Bedford; and a niece, Sarah Silvers Raykes, of Pelham, Ala. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Staunton Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening, September 26, 2008, from 7 until 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Bedford, Va.
