David Partington Obituary

David W. Partington Sr., 92, of Roanoke, Va., went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 24, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Edgar and Lucia Wilbur Partington; and his wife, Mary Jo Ganoe Partington. Mr. Partington was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church where he served in many areas of responsibility including youth activity leader for 10 years and Scoutmaster for Troop 210 for 15 years. He was a 32 degree Mason, a member of Kazim Shrine Temple and a past President of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Mr. Partington was selected as father of the year in 1969 for Family and Religious Activities. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 22 years, 11 of which were active duty. Surviving are his children, David W. Partington Jr. and wife, Glyndal, of Hilton Head, S.C., Paula Loomis and husband, Dr. Charles F. Loomis, of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., Pamela A. Partington, of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Paul W. Partington Sr. and wife, Sharon, of Glenwood, Md.; and grandchildren, Robin P. Foutz and husband, John, of Roanoke, Teri P. Nelson and husband, Russell, of Fincastle, Sarah J. Partington, of Charlottesville, Kerry M. Loomis, of Wilmington, N.C., Charles F. Loomis Jr. and wife, Norma, of Chesapeake, Va., Lyn Kirby and husband, Corey, of Chesterfield, Mo., Paul W. (Will) Partington and Carly Ann Partington, of Glenwood, Md. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 706 14th Avenue South, North Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29582. A graveside service will be conducted 10 a.m. Saturday, September 27, 2008, in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River, Mass., by the Rev. Dr. John Stapleton. There will be no visitation.
