Phyllis Atkinson Obituary

Phyllis Frizzell Atkinson, 80, of the 2000 block of Hen House Drive, passed away on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, in Sentara Village, Virginia Beach, Va. A native of Roanoke, Va., she was the daughter of the late Maude and Floyd Frizzell. She was a graduate of Madison College and Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing who later worked with physician and dental offices. She enjoyed golf, the beach and most of all, shopping. She is survived by a son, Flip and Theresa Atkinson, of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Catherine Atkinson and Stan Seibert, of Aston, Pa., and Karen and Richard Lowden, of Limerick, Pa.; four grandchildren, TJ and Brianna Lowden and Ryan and Derek Atkinson; and sister, Betty Thrasher, of Roanoke, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Atkinson Jr. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home Kempsville Chapel, Kempsville Road, Virginia Beach on Thursday, September 25, 2008, from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2008, at the gravesite at Colonial Grove Memorial Park, 344 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be made in her name to Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters or to one of your favorite charities.
