Arthur Boyce Ruff

Arthur Boyce Ruff, 80, of Bedford passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, March 28, 1928 in Bedford Co., a son of the late Otis Ruff and Lillie Orange Ruff. He was also preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Lelia Louise Overstreet Ruff, a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Billy Walker, and a daughter-in-law, Peggy Bowden Ruff. He was a retired employee of the Rubatex Corporation and attended Cool Springs Presbyterian Church. He was also a U. S. Army Veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his son, Donnie Boyce Ruff and friend, Kathy of Thaxton; two grandchildren, Susan Lyle and husband, Wayne, of Bedford, Tracy Ruff and friend, Bill, of Vinton; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Terrance and Tyree Jones; four sisters, Myrtle Phillips, Frances Stevens and husband, Harry "Steve", both of Thaxton, Margaret Overstreet, Doris Dooley, both of Bedford; a sister-in-law, Odessa Patsell and husband, Ronnie, of Vinton; brother-in-law, Aubrey Dooley, of Roanoke; many nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Hospice Team, 10th floor at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and his special caregiver, Odessa Patsell. Funeral services will be held today at 11 a.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford with the Rev. Geoff Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Cool Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
