Lloyd Lohr Obituary

Lloyd (Joe) Lohr, of Roanoke, went home to be with the Lord September 27, 2008, at his home. Survivors include his best friend, for whom he had been a loving husband of nearly 31 years, Marianne Lohr. He has been a wonderful father to Joseph "Scott" Lohr, of Kernersville, N.C., Kimberly Sue Jones, of Winston Salem, N.C. and Richard Curtis Lohr, of Kernersville, N.C. Also surviving, and for whom Joe held true love and deep affection, are Kathryn Evers Lohr, Scott's wife, Allen Edward Jones, Kimberly's husband, and Michelle Lee Lohr, Richard's wife. His grandchildren, Joseph Brant Lohr, Cade Evers Lohr, Coen Scott Lohr, Sydney Faith Lohr, and his unborn fifth grandchild, due in March, were the treasures of his heart. Also surviving is his father, Lloyd Harvey Lohr, of Toledo, Ohio; and a third brother, Timothy B. Lohr, of Toledo, Ohio. Joe was born March 22, 1956, in Wheeling, W.Va. to Lloyd Harvey and the late Betty "Parker" Lohr. He joins his mother and two brothers in heaven. Joe was a graduate of Whitmer High School in Toledo, Ohio. He loved to work in his workshop, golf, and attend auctions, but he loved most of all to be with his children and grandchildren. The most important factor in his life was the Lord Jesus Christ. He accepted Christ as his Savior when he was a teenager, and has tried to live for Him all his days. He loved his pastor, Mark Manning and Fellowship Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va., and his former church and pastor, Brother Bobby Roberson of Gospel Light Baptist Church in Walkertown, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home in Kernersville, N.C. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008, at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Gur Cemetery in Kernersville, N.C. A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Baptist Church in Roanoke, Va. 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2008. Fond thoughts, and memories, of Joe may be sent to the Lohr family at www.Pierce-JeffersonFuneral Service.com.

My dearest friend Marianne and family- my prayers are with you in this difficult time. Remember the song 'What a day that will be" Joe has come to that day - the lord has taken Joe by the hand and led him home to the promise land. No more sickness, no more suffering. Marianne just know that I am here for you if you need anything. God bless you and your family.
