Rufus Witt Obituary

Rufus B. Jr., 59, of Christiansburg, Va., passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008. He was born April 26, 1949, in Christiansburg to the late Rufus B. Witt Sr. and Jean Harmon Witt. He was retired from VDOT after 30 years of service. Mr. Witt is survived by his wife, Marie Witt, of Christiansburg; son, Tony Witt and wife, Tina, of Christiansburg; daughter, Judy Witt, of Christiansburg; step-daughter, Rosemary Bourne and husband, J.R., of Charlottesville; sisters, Pat Cooper, of Christiansburg and Brenda Robertson and husband, Bobby, of Pearisburg; brother, James Witt and wife, Gail, of Tulia, Texas; ten grandchildren; seven greatgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Irene Jones of Christiansburg, and Shirley Hall, of Christiansburg. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday October 7, 2008, at Horne Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jube Burk officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday October 6, 2008, at the funeral Home. The Witt family is being served by Horne Funeral Service, Christiansburg. Marie, I am so sorry to hear about your husband's death. This is Tonya, the gift shop Manager at richfield. Every time I talked with your husband, he was very kind, and was always talking about how good of a 'nurse' you were. You did so much for him in his illness, just be comforted in knowing that he is in a much better place now. No more pain. I love you, Marie and I miss you so much here at Richfield, you are in my prayers. God Bless.
